This #smallchangessunday is a special one as we approach #EarthDay 2021 on the 22nd and the launch of our second store in Inchicore is looming (announcement incoming!) Lyndsey who heads up communications at @voiceireland has made a video for us to share with all of you, and she says:

"Small Changes, and refill stores like them around Ireland, are making a real change when it comes to the problems due to over-packaging and plastic pollution. Making small changes in how we shop, eat and consume can make a real difference to the amount of waste we are generating as a country. We are working hard to effect change at a political level too with our #wechoosereuse campaign. Each and every one of us together can make a difference. Happy #smallchangessunday everyone!'

It's Eimear's last day in Small Changes Drumcondra 😔 Because she's heading off getting Small Changes Inchicore ready for launch day! 😊 Eimear has been an absolute shining star coming to work with us during the hardest days of the Panny D and she's going to do an amazing job at the helm in Dublin 8. Not long now until herself, Peadar, and the gang will be welcoming you all at 120 Emmet Rd. Keep an eye out for our launch day announcement... coming *very* soon 🙌

We've built up quite a portfolio of fabulous Irish products and built great relationships with small producers over the years. We'd love to platform more of you...and we now have the space! Our Drumcondra store is packed to the rafters so we've had to turn some of you away but we've plenty of room in Inchicore for you. We love plant based food/beauty products, and eco-friendly household products. If you're a café who've started making your own products - let us get it out there. The more local the better 💚

Why choose loose-leaf tea?

As it's not brewed in a teabag, when you steep loose-leaf tea, it has room for tea leaves to absorb water and expand as they infuse. This allows the water to flow through the leaves and extract a wide range of vitamins, minerals, flavours, and aromas from the leaves. You can also see what part of the tea plant you're drinking - buds, larger or smaller leaves, whole branches, fruit peices, or just leaves. You can't see all that inside a tea bag. Then of course there's the waste aspect - there's no bag so there's less waste. Many bags are sealed with glue or are bleached so they can't be composted...not to mention the nasties you'd be ingesting!

This #smallchangessunday we have the brilliant Evelyn from @veghuns telling us about a small change that turned out to be a pretty big change in so many ways 💚

Evelyn: "I thought going vegan would just be a small change in my diet. It turned out to be a major wake up call that my actions affect others whether I see it or not, and I can only choose whether that effect is positive or negative. 8 years later and being vegan has had an amazing impact on my carbon footprint, my health, my awareness, animals and other humans. My friends and family have gone vegan and we campaign together for human rights, animal rights and climate justice. I run @Veghuns with my two best friends and give talks about how an ecofeminist vegan revolution can change the world for the better. There’s still a lot of work to do but I think small steps make a big difference when they’re in the right direction." 🌱

Clare and Don chatted to us in January about maybe opening a refill/eco store. Well they went and did it and it looks like they've done a mighty good job at it too. If you're in Gorey make sure you pay @therefillery.gorey a visit, we definitely will when the coast is clear 🙌 Congratulations guys!
