Hi everyone - JR here 👋 Today is my last day as Online Manager at Small Changes and I didn't want to go without saying goodbye and thank you ✨

Over the past 3.5 years working here I've met so many kind and interesting people in Drumcondra, here in the building, and within the online community. I've really enjoyed all of the collaborations and events I've worked on with such inspiring hard-working producers and creatives. And last but not least I've loved working with the teams, past and present, in both stores. It's been a blast 🚀 Mind yourselves and eat your beans.

Recycle your HDPE bottle caps from milk cartons and drinks bottles with us in Drumcondra & Inchicore ♻️

We’re a drop-off point for empty clean HDPE Plastic Bottle Caps which we collect on behalf of @preciousplasticdublin

What happens to the bottle caps?
Precious Plastic Dublin use the caps to make new and long-lasting products right here in Dublin and demonstrate that there is immense value in waste plastic.

Could you not just put them in your own recycle bin?
Yes, you could but here’s some figures explaining what happens to our recycling in Ireland: 34% of our plastic is recycled with 39% being incinerated and 31% going to landfill. 60% of our plastic waste comes from packaging but only 40% of that is recycled. Also, the same piece of plastic can only be recycled a maximum of 2-3 times before it is rendered useless and sent to landfill. Whereas if you collect your bottle caps for Precious Plastic Dublin, you know they are being used for something useful that will last.

What type of cap is HDPE?
Generally these caps will be from tetra packs like milk cartons etc. or from water bottle/fizzy drink bottles and the rings from these caps too.

We fill bags and bags of these and the guys at Precious Plastic are doing great things so keep them coming! 💚

A TUESDAY THROWBACK to the first days of our updated refill system. Do you remember before we had the Tare Scales and Gravity & Scoop Bins we had everything in jars and had to weigh all of your shopping manually for you at the till? Those were some long and slow queues! Nowadays you can weigh your dried food goods on our self service scales and we just weigh your fresh produce super quick when you come to the till 🍅🫑

Also notice our old fresh food display and...no masks in the photo. A lot has changed.

We even have a second bigger store in Inchicore and an online shop now www.smallchanges.ie 🙂

It's nearly three months since we opened the Small

It's nearly three months since we opened the Small Changes door to Inchicore. 30th of April was our launch day and in the weeks leading up to that @eimyforest and @dalalice pulled out all the stops, working around the clock to turn an empty shell in need of a lot of love, into our second shop. They made it beautiful and functional and the best big sister to our little Drumcondra shop.

The D8 community has made the team feel welcome from day one and we're chuffed to already have so many lovely regulars (including/especially four legged ones).

We're also delighted to be bringing the same brilliant Irish suppliers and artisan makers from Drumcondra with us to the Southside as well as some new (to us) homegrown foodies.

It's early days (and in a strange new world) but we're looking forward to whatever comes. Cheers to that 💚
